HFA opted to keep the central space open so that buyers could arrange furniture, plants pots etc. as they pleased. We chose a warm and textural limestone paving to make the space feel welcoming, and to soften the stark white exterior of the building. We kept and refurbished the original stableyard cobbles in the parking space but separated the two areas with a brick raised bed.
We used a gravel mulch to keep moisture in the soil as the plants were still in the establishment phase and wouldn't be frequently watered whilst the property was on the market. We developed the scheme in order to look great straight away in Spring, but to continue to look fantastic throughout the year because it was unknown how long it would take for the property to sell.
This was accomplished on a shoe-string budget and was met with glowing feedback from visitors.
